Lasers & Fiber-based Devices

Objectives

The Nanophotonics Technology Center has recently achieved the capacity to develop and manufacture fiber-optic lasers – with customisable properties for specific applications. Fiber lasers are reliable and low-cost maintenance optical sources for systems requiring coherent light sources with high beam quality.

The aim is to exploit the excellent properties of fiber lasers for their application in exciting new fields. Our activity is focused on the research and development of the following types of lasers:

  • Multiwavelength DFB fiber lasers: for photonic generation and RF signal processing.
  • Mid-IR fiber lasers: for detecting gas spectral signatures.
  • Mode-locked fiber lasers: for optical sampling applications.
